SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A 36-year-old Sulphur is in custody after breaking into a local church, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Reginald J. Poullard was arrested Thursday morning on charges of burglary of a religious building, theft under $500 and criminal damage to property.

Poullard allegedly rummaged through the church but fled when confronted by a worker. Myers said Poullard was found hiding in the attic of his home.

Bond was set at $70,000.
