SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) -

A flash flood warning is set for Calcasieu Parish until 10:45 p.m. Friday.

Meteorologist Ben Terry said the worst of the severe weather is behind us but flooding will remain a major problem for the rest of the day.

KPLC has received multiple reports of flooding, vehicle accidents and downed trees and power lines all over the area.

Drivers are asked to avoid flooded roadways as much as possible. Even though your vehicle may be able to safely navigate the area, driving through it may push water into homes.

KPLC has received numerous calls from frustrated homeowners who are trying to keep the water out of their homes. They are also reporting that motorists have been driving through their yards in an effort to get around town.

Authorities have set up road blocks in numerous areas.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office has reported that a possible tornado was spotted around 2 p.m. near the intersection of La. 99 and La. 14.
