SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A 21-year-old Sulphur man and a 15-year-old juvenile have been arrested on burglary and theft charges, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Marty D. Ashworth and the juvenile were arrested Monday afternoon after breaking into a home on Edson Street in Sulphur.

"Deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress at the home," Myers said Thursday in a news release. "A witness said they observed Ashworth and the juvenile burglarize the home and flee on foot. Moments later, deputies located Ashworth and the juvenile close to the home. When questioned, Ashworth and the juvenile confirmed they burglarized the home and stole an undisclosed amount of cash."

Ashworth, who has been charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling, theft under $500 and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, is being held on a $37,500 bond.

The juvenile was charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling and theft under $500.
