LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Lafayette Police responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of S. Magnolia St. at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victim in the incident advised officers that he had been sitting in his car on Magnolia St. when the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the money from the him. The victim gave an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who then shot the him in the leg.

The victim was forced to drive the suspect to the 800 block of Surrey St., where the suspect exited the vehicle.

The victim fled in his vehicle back to Magnolia St., where he contacted authorities. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black male with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a muscle shirt before fleeing on foot.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-8477.
