MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) -

A Moss Bluff woman has been arrested on DWI and drug charges following a Tuesday traffic stop by deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies conducted the stop near the intersection of Hwy 171 North and Topsy Road. When deputies spoke with the driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Kayla Fisher, her speech was "extremely slurred."

Fisher was arrested after performing poorly on a standard field sobriety test.

During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that Fisher had been driving while under suspension for a prior DWI conviction. According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Fisher has two prior DWI convictions in the last 10 years.

Investigators also discovered several prescription pills -- identified as Alprazolam and Carisoprodo -- inside Fisher's wallet. Fisher advised that she had consumed numerous pills prior to driving.

Fisher was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of DWI 3rd, possession of CDS IV and suspended driver's license. Bond was set at $56,500 by Judge Michael Canaday.
