KFC investigation concludes incident involving 3-year-old girl didn't happen

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Following two investigations, KFC has concluded that the incident of a young girl being thrown out of a Jackson restaurant did not happen, but is honoring its commitment to make a $30,000 donation to help with Victoria's medical bills.

KFC Spokesman Rick Maynard released the following statement Tuesday afternoon:

Like the rest of America, the KFC family has been moved by the story of Victoria's injuries and recovery. After the alleged incident was reported to us, two investigations took place, including one by an independent investigator. Neither revealed any evidence that the incident occurred and we consider the investigation closed. We are honoring our commitment to make a $30,000 donation to assist with Victoria's medical bills. We hope everyone keeps Victoria in their thoughts and prayers. She will certainly be in ours.

The family has not responded to the latest KFC statement and the Facebook page "Victoria's Victories" has been taken down.

Monday, a community newspaper, the Laurel Leader-Call, called the story of a young girl being thrown out of a local restaurant "A Kentucky Fried Hoax"

Quoting an unnamed source they say has "deep knowledge of the investigation," the paper's report addresses concerns and alleged inconsistencies with the family's version of events.

They point to early confusion or misstatements about which location was the setting of the incident and, they claim, that no restaurant surveillance video backs up the family's version of events.

Monday night on their Facebook page, Victoria's Victories, they posted this statement: 

I promise its not a hoax, I never thought any of this would blow up the way it has. The article circling the web calling this a hoax is untrue. The article it self say the investigation is not complete. It is not over until KFC releases a statement. The media outlet running this story is not connected with KFC. The family has not asked for anything, a attorney is handling all the media publicity for the family pro bono. Please do not believe untrue media. I have personally watched this family go without to provide for Victoria. They have not and would not do anything to hurt Victoria in any way.

KFC hired a third-party to conduct an investigation into the 3-year-old girl who was allegedly asked to leave a KFC because her facial injuries supposedly scared the other customers.

Victoria Wilcher was injured in a pit bull attack just a few months ago at her grandparents' house.

According to a Facebook post on Victoria's Victories the little girl was asked by a KFC employee to leave a Jackson restaurant because her appearance was disturbing some of the patrons.

Since then there has been an outpouring of love, support, gifts, and pledges for help on the family's Facebook page, Victoria's Victories.

A Las Vegas doctor flew into Jackson, Saturday, for the sole purpose of meeting with a little girl. He has pledged to help her for free.  

KFC Corp. pledged $30,000 to help with the medical bills of the 3-year-old after posting an apology on the page, requesting details.
