JENNINGS, LA (KPLC) -

Police officer Ricky J. Benoit was shot Monday following an incident at a home on South Street in Jennings, state police said.

Sgt. James Anderson, spokesman for Troop D, said Benoit is in stable condition at a Lafayette-area hospital.

Benoit, a 24-year veteran of the Jennings Police Department, was shot in the neck while responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Anderson said the suspect is in custody but said they are not releasing his name at this time. State police took over the investigation at the request of the Jennings Police Department.

Jennings Police Chief Todd D'Albor is at the hospital with the 52-year-old Benoit and his family.

    The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for three female suspects in a shoplifting case. A deputy was working an off-duty security detail inside Dillard's at the Prien Lake Mall in Lake Charles.
