SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A 55-year-old Sulphur woman has been arrested on charges of identity theft and exploitation of the infirmed, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Wendolyn F. Berry fraudulently utilized the identity of two ex-acquaintances, including an elderly woman, to obtain numerous credit accounts.

"Berry used the credit accounts to make over $7,400 worth of purchases at several local and on-line stores," Myers said Thursday in a news conference.

Bond was set at $32,000.
