PENSACOLA, FLA -

A 41-year-old Florida man is in custody and the victim is recovering following a brutal assault at a mobile phone store in Pensacola.

Surveillance video of the incident, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, has gained nation-wide attention.

The video begins as the man, Vincent Lavon Johnson, enters the store. The store clerk, 35-year-old Jessica Smith, greets Johnson and they begin to talk. About a minute later, Johnson is seen punching Smith, knocking her off her feet and onto the ground.

Johnson then ordered Smith to open the register before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Smith, who is pregnant, was taken to a local hospital and treated for a broken nose.

Johnson was arrested Thursday morning and charged with felony battery, strong-arm robbery and burglary.
