Auto insurance group offers discount to drivers that install text blocking devices.

ATLANTA, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Good2Go®, specialists in offering minimum coverage auto insurance, announced that their Cell Phone Safety Discount is now available in Mississippi. Customers will receive 5% off bodily injury, property damage, and collision coverage per vehicle when they install a device that blocks distracting cell phone functions such as text messaging, email, and Internet browsing. Full details are available at www.good2go.com/cell-phone-safety-discount.html.

Eligible drivers can receive this discount by simply installing a qualifying text blocking device in their vehicle and providing a copy of the receipt as proof of purchase via email, fax, or postal service. Text blockers are hardware/software that disable certain functions of cell phones such as texting, email, and Internet browsing while a vehicle is in motion. Only essential call functionalities are permitted such as 911 emergency calls.

Although Mississippi currently does not have a statewide texting while driving ban for most drivers, school bus drivers and novice drivers are prohibited from texting while driving. Mississippi has been under pressure to join the 44 other US states that have enacted a ban on texting while driving. Most recently, House Bill 484 was passed by Senate and House (a law that would make texting while driving illegal for all drivers), only to have a motion to reconsider which resulted in rejection of the bill.

Good2Go® applauds Mississippi's continued efforts in pushing for a texting while driving law to help save lives. To increase awareness around this fatal issue and to promote safe driving, Good2Go unveiled the Cell Phone Safety Discount to encourage others to do more against texting while driving and reward people with the initiative to install text blocking devices to help make our roads safer.
