NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans Police are searching for a man wanted for aggravated assault.

Officers say that the man in question attacked a victim around 1 p.m. last Tuesday near the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and the eastbound I-10 ramp.

Officers say that the suspect fled the scene in a black, four-door Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. Police say the suspect vehicle had handicapped Georgia plates, possibly beginning with 3G.

The vehicle fled north on Elysian Fields and took a right into a neighborhood behind Walgreen's at Gentilly Boulevard, police say.

Authorities have described the suspect as 28-30 years old with a slim build. The suspect is said to be approximately 5'11" to 6" in height and weighs230-235 pounds. Police say the man has a dark complexion, goatee and dreadlocks that fall approximately 6-inches below his shoulders.

He was last seen with a wearing an oversized crew neck white t-short and carrying a large caliber silver handgun, according to police.
