LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A 25-year-old Lake Charles man is in custody in connection with a shooting Wednesday night near the intersection of La. 14 and Legion Street, city police said.

Daniel Rodasti turned himself in Friday afternoon, hours after authorities issued a news release requesting help in identifying the man captured by surveillance video prior to the shooting.

"With the assistance of public and media outlets, (we) were able to identify the subject in the photo," said Cpl. Larry Moss, a spokesman for the Lake Charles Police Department.

Moss said Rodasti was armed when he attempted to rob another man. Moss said the victim fought back and was shot in the leg during the struggle.

Rodasti will be charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted armed robbery with use of a firearm, aggravated second-degree battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal use of weapons.

Bond was set at $300,000.
