CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Sulphur man has been charged with third-offense DWI, following a traffic stop by officers with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office responded to a complaint of a possible drunk driver in the parking lot of a local casino.

While en route to the location, officers located the car. They conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and noticed that the driver appeared unsteady on his feet and slurred his speech.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Kevin Price of Sulphur, performed poorly on a field sobriety test. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a charge of DWI third offense.

He was later released on a $21,000 bond set by Judge Clayton Davis.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Price has two prior DWI arrests since 2005.
