The following is a news release from Calcasieu Parish Public Library:

Various Calcasieu Parish Public Library locations have announced the following programs for June 15-21:

Programs for adults:

Carnegie Memorial Library, 411 Pujo St., 721-7084

Snack and a Science Movie:  10:30 a.m., Friday, June 20.  Adults will watch a popular science movie while eating great snacks.  Registration is required.

Central Library, 301 W. Claude Street, 721-7116

Friends of the Library-Calcasieu Book Sale:  3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 15. The Friends of the Library-Calcasieu will have books for sale until 5:00 p.m.

Friends of the Library-Calcasieu Book Sale:  10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17. The Friends of the Library-Calcasieu will have books for sale until 12:00 p.m.

Take Good Photos:  6:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 17.  Professional photographer, Leroy Tademy, will present a workshop for aspiring photographers.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras.  Registration is required.

Tasty Desserts Demo and Tasting:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18.  Adults will make and taste a variety of desserts.  Registration is required.

Central Library Book Club:  6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18.  Adults will discuss "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes.

Internet Basics:  9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 19.  Adults will cover the basics of searching the Internet with hands on practice.  Registration is required.

Friends of the Library-Calcasieu Book Sale:  4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19. The Friends of the Library-Calcasieu will have books for sale until 6:00 p.m.

3D Thursdays:  5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19.  Visit the Central Library Innovation Studio every Thursday from 5-7 to learn all about 3D printing and design.

Pick the Date:  During branch hours through summer.  Adults will participate in the passive manipulative board that will remind them of upcoming programs.

Up-Cycle That:  10:00 a.m., Monday, June 16.  Adults will participate in a book talk, create a candy jar, and discuss favorite childhood candy.  Registration is required.

Free Notary Services:  10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19.  Patrons can have documents notarized for free by a licensed Notary Public.  Please bring your photo ID.

Epps Memorial Library, 1320 North Simmons St., 721-7090

Stringing Beads:  6:00 p.m., Monday, June 16.  Adults will string beads using beading thread and attach a clasp.  Registration is required.

Epps Memorial Book Discussion:  6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19.  Adults will discuss the hit series "Game of Thrones."

Doctor Whooligans:  3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21.  Each month, fans of the hit series "Doctor Who" will meet and discuss the show.

John Bridges:  10:00 a.m., Monday, June 16.  KPLC News anchor, John Bridges, will talk about his adventures.

Mobile Monday:  10:00 a.m., Monday, June 16.  Library staff will help patrons with questions about mobile devices. 

Southwest Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Library, 411 Pujo Street, 721-7110

Beginning Genealogy Workshop #1:  10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19.  Genealogy staff will provide information on how to begin researching family histories.  A tour of the SWLA Genealogical and Historical Library will follow.

Glow Garden:  10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18.  Adults will participate in a book talk and create a glow in the dark garden pot.  Registration is required.

Coffee and History:  11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17.  Thom Trahan, executive director of the Brimstone Museum, will speak on a number of topics related to the history of Sulphur.

DIY Smartphone Projector and Maker Challenge:  2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 17.  Teens will transform a smart phone into a projector using simple supplies.  Afterwards, teams will compete in a Maker building challenge.  Registration is required.

Doctor Who Tardis Art:  2:00 p.m., Monday, June 16.  Teens will paint a TARDIS in the style of VanGogh's "Starry Night."  Registration is required.

3D Drawing:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18.  Teens will learn about the strange images that can be created using 3D software.  Registration is required.

Ping Pong Table Games:  2:00 p.m., Friday, June 20.  Teens will learn how to make an inexpensive substitute from household items.  Registration is required.

Take a Guess:  During branch hours throughout summer.  Teens will pull a form and guess the pictures that have been enlarged.  Prizes will be given for those who turn them in.

Matthew Noel and the Magic YoYo:  11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19.  Yo-yo champion and magician, Matthew Noel, will entertain all with his tricks, juggling, and comedy.  A juggling workshop will follow.

Robots:  3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19.  Teens will participate in a book talk and create a spin bot.  Registration is required.

Microscope Stands:  2:00 p.m., Monday, June 16.  Teens will make a stand that will turn a smartphone into a digital microscope.

Find the Germ!:  During branch hours.  Hidden throughout the Children's Area are 3 stuffed toys that look like common germs.  If you find one, bring it to one of the children's librarians for a fun prize!

Hunting for Dinosaur Bones:  During branch hours.  Hidden in the swimming pond by the palm trees are some dinosaur bones!  Find a bone and bring it to one of the children's librarians for a fun prize!

Dr. Kinsland and the Collision of the Dinos:  10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17.  Dr. Gary Kinsland from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will talk about the extinction of the dinosaurs. 

Story Time:  2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 17.

Karate for Kids:  10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19.  Master Karla Prejean and her students will provide a karate demonstration.

Fantastic Friday Feature:  2:00 p.m., Friday, June 20.  Children can bring a pillow and a blanket and enjoy a fun, family oriented movie.

Zing, Bang, Boom:  3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18.  Preschoolers will participate in a musical themed story time and create a rainbow musical shaker. 

Popcorn and a Movie:  3:00 p.m., Friday, June 20.  Families will enjoy snacks and a movie.
