Miss MS Outstanding Teen 2014 crowned

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mississippi's new Outstanding Teen was crowned Saturday night in the River City.

Grace Elizabeth Munro of Ocean Springs will represent the state as Miss Outstanding Teen 2014.

The 17-year-old is a Junior and a member of the National Honor Society.

She was a top 10 finalist in last year's pageant.

Munro wants to have a career in the medical field.

Twenty-four young ladies from across the state participated in this year's pageant.

"My platform is dance therapy acceptance for adolescents, and it's about children with disabilities and children without disabilities coming together through the art of dance," Munro said. 

Munro heads to the Miss America Outstanding Teen pageant in Orlando Florida which begins July 29th.

    Police have confirmed a man died earlier this week inside the Sulphur City Jail. According to Mel Estess, spokesman for the Sulphur Police Department, the man was arrested Tuesday, put in a cell alone, and died. Police are not giving any word on how he died or releasing his identity. The coroner's report is not complete according to Estess. KPLC will update this story as more information becomes available.
