Join us at 10 for 7News Nightcast!

Good Evening, SWLA!

Gerron Jordan here, filling in for Lee Peck.  Here's a look at what we're working on for 7News Nightcast.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of their own after an off-duty deputy died in a single vehicle accident last night in Iowa.  We'll have details on the pending investigation.

Hundreds of men and women in the National Guard can get the call to serve at any moment and that means their training has to be tip-top.  Tonight, KPLC's Haley Rush reports from Camp Shelby in Mississippi where employers were able to see what training their National Guard employees really go through.

Hundreds of dogs were in Lake Charles this weekend for the Calcasieu AKC Dog Show.  KPLC's Monica Grimaldo has highlights, winners and the answer to the question: who let the dogs out!?

It was a hot and muggy weekend for much of southwest Louisiana.  Chief Meteorologist Wade Hampton is filling in for Zack Fradella, he'll tell us if more hot and humid weather is in store for us this work week.

Those stories and much more are coming up tonight at 10 on Nightcast.  Until then, we're always on at www.kplctv.com and on your mobile devices.

Thanks,
Gerron!
