Brother keeps promise to sister at Clay HS graduation

OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

It was a big day on Sunday at Clay High School.

The Class of 2014 graduated.

One of the graduates received a special surprise from a special man in her life.

Alexis Campos plans to major in business administration at Middle Tennessee State.

Little did she know that hidden under the football stands at her graduation was her big brother Brandon, also a Clay graduate and a proud member of the U.S. Air force.

Brandon and Alexis have always been tight.

He came to fulfill a promise.

"She's always been someone that supports me no matter what I did. She was younger but has always been there for me. I've always been protective of her. We'd just always hang out," said Brandon.

Alexis has been a nervous wreck lately.

Brandon has been stationed for six months in Afghanistan.

"I tried to keep her from anything that would scare her," said Brandon.

But for now, Brandon is back, safe at home.

When it was time for Alexis to receive her diploma, Brandon stepped on stage to present it to her.

The two were re-united, and Alexis broke down and was speechless.

"A loss of words. I really couldn't say anything. It was crazy and unbelievable," said Alexis.

Alexis says Brandon is a man of his word.

"When he first went in the military his promise was no matter where he was that he'd be at my graduation. I was convinced he wouldn't be here until 10:00 tonight and he ended up here," said Alexis.

It was a promise kept by the number one soldier in her life.

A few scattered showers this afternoonA few scattered showers this afternoon

We will start today with partly cloudy skies, building up for scattered thunderstorms later this afternoon. Rain chances are up to 40% today, so we should not see as much rain as yesterday. Most of the rain will come to an end by the late afternoon. After sunset, rain chances will go back down to zero percent overnight with mostly clear skies. In between any showers, we will have warm temperatures for southwest Louisiana.
