JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jefferson Davis County authorities are on the hunt for a man accused of kidnapping and assaulting his ex-girlfriend and shooting into a vehicle carrying his and another child.

Investigators said 48-year-old Hilton Ross Jr. of New Hebron is wanted for his attack on Shanna Longino Monday night.

According to sheriff's department officials, after Longino picked up their child from Ross in the parking lot of a New Hebron store, he then chased and fired into the vehicle.

Her mother and two children were in that car.

Authorities said he rammed his van into the car, forcing it into a ditch. Longino was pulled from the vehicle.

She told deputies that Ross reportedly beat her in the head with the pistol until he crashed on Highway 42 west in New Hebron.

Ross fled into the woods.

Investigators said Ross was spotted Friday night at a Gulfport casino.

Ross is wanted for domestic violence, aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Please contact the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff's Department at 601-792-5169 if you have seen Hilton Ross Jr.
