TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Trinity County 356 Volunteer Fire Department held their first Family Fun Day in honor of their re-opening on Saturday.

The original fire station burned down three years ago and ever since then the volunteer firefighters have been raising money to rebuild their station.

After a lot of hard work and waiting, Station 356 finally got to raise their flag and re-open their doors.

Something Chief Marvin Saunders says wouldn't have been possible without the help and support of the community.

"It's great because it shows that your community is here to help and they know how bad it's got to be there for them because if we aren't here no one's house gets saved," said Saunders.

According to Mark Mann, a volunteer firefighter with the station, this is only phase one of their remodel, phase two will include a new meeting room along with another room for more trucks.
