LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas business needs your help finding the thieves responsible for smashing their gate and stealing a trailer. The trailer was stolen on May 25 from Wyatt's trailer sales in the 2300 block of East Marshall Avenue in Longview.

Surveillance video shows a white Dodge Durango pulling up to the front of locked iron gates at Wyatt’s around 5 am on a Sunday morning last month.

"I just really couldn't believe that they pushed down the gate. That’s really brave to push down a gate on the side of Highway 80," says co-owner Cheryl Wyatt.

The vehicle is seen crashing through the gates, heading immediately to the trailer area, and hooking up to Wyatt's $1700 tandem axle trailer before speeding off. It also cost Wyatt more in damage.

"We have a double pipe gate besides the original one," she says. Wyatt employees say they saw such a vehicle around two weeks earlier.

"My employees thought they saw the vehicle out in front and looking at trailers," says Wyatt. When the suspect drove through the iron gate, it is very likely that they now have front end damage to their vehicle.

The trailer has a stamped serial number that Wyatt hope will help identify it. "If you hear of a really good deal on a trailer, it may not be such a good deal," Cheryl says.

The Wyatts are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved in the theft.
