VALCOURT, QC, June 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ - BRP presents today the 2014 edition of the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada trophies.
This year's edition was created by a multinational trio of BRP designers, Canadian Ghyslain Béland, Russian Alexei Mikhailov and American Matt Tandrup, digitally shaped by computer, machined from raw materials then handcrafted by artisans to ultimately form the trophy that represents this year's Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada.

The clear glass cup's tips are shaped as an abstract form of the Canadian maple leaf that has been frozen in time. The three precision-built arms are representative of a racing line on the track, painted a beautiful racing red, and the design of the prongs feature an air intake shape symbolic of performance and speed. Combined together in one trophy as a whole, the elements are styled in such a way to evoke visually a work of art and an aerodynamic speed form, like that of the Formula 1 car.
The team won their chance to create this illustrious trophy by participating in a friendly competition within the Design & Innovation Centre intended to stimulate the creative mindset. The trophy design was selected among BRP designers by a special jury composed of representatives of Octane Racing Group and BRP.

"A project such as creating, developing and producing the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada trophies allows BRP designers to stimulate their creativity and show their versatility."
Spectators can take their photo with the trophy during the Open House on June 5 and in the BRP booth near the Pont du Cosmos. Also at the booth will be products from BRP's Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo, Evinrude, Rotax and Can-Am brands, including a racing kart powered by a Rotax engine. Two Canadian champions of Rotax karting, 10-year-old William Chayer and 23-year-old Ben Cooper, will sign autographs at 11:30 a.m. on June 7. The one-of-a-kind Can-Am Spyder that will be sold at the Grand Evening charity auction on June 5 will be featured in the booth as well on June 6-7-8. Lots to see and do - don't miss it!
