LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A 21-year-old Lake Charles man has been arrested on charges of theft over $1,500, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Corey J. Douglas has been accused of stealing from his employer, a local casino.

"Security personnel said they had observed Douglas waiting on a customer at one of the retail shops located inside the casino resort," Myers said. "After the customer store left the shop, Douglas canceled the transaction and put the money in his pants pocket."

Myers said security personnel found several other transactions where Douglas had canceled the sale and put the money in his pocket.

"Douglas advised the detectives he had stolen approximately $5,500 over a period of three months from three different retail shops in the casino resort," Myers said.

Bond was set at $5,000.
