Search for Calcasieu superintendent down to final four

CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

The Calcasieu Parish School Board on Wednesday announced the final four candidates in the search for its new superintendent.

The finalists are:

• Karl Bruchhaus, CPA: Chief Financial Officer for Calcasieu Parish School Board.

• Ina Delahoussaye, Ph.D.: Retired Director Title I Technical Assistance of School Improvement for Calcasieu Parish School Board.

• Charles S. Michel, Ed.D.: Supervisor of Special Education for Lafourche Parish.

• Marcus D. Jackson, Ed.D.: Principal at Kendrick Middle School in Jonesboro, Ga.

The four finalists will be interviewed again in-person on June 14 and the board is expected to vote on the next superintendent the same day. According to a flier, the starting salary is a minimum of $150,000 per year and is negotiable based on experience.

Wayne Savoy announced in January that he would retire at the end of this year. Savoy took over as superintendent in 2006.

The following candidates were eliminated from contention Wednesday: Kirk Credeur, Art Stellar, Dr. Corwin K. Robinson, Shirl Edward Gilbert II and James M. Hughes.

Profiles on all the candidates can be seen HERE and at http://www.cpsb.org/Page/5562.

KPLC's Erica Bivens will have more tonight on Nightcast.
