MINNESOTA (KPLC) -

A sixth-grader in Minnesota is lucky to be alive after almost getting hit by an 18-wheeler as she boarded a school bus Friday morning.

According to The Star Tribune, Alexis Schwartz was almost run over when a truck driver passed on the right side of the stopped school bus.

"It just kept coming and didn't stop, and it didn't even stop when it passed me," Schwartz told the Star Tribune. "My heart was pounding awfully fast, and my hands were shaking, because I was so scared to have it come up that close."

According to Minnesota State Police, the driver of the truck has contacted authorities about the incident.
