LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Joanna Hardin has been picked to take over the McNeese State softball program, sources tell KPLC.

Hardin was with the Cowgirls for the last two seasons as an assistant coach and worked primarily with the pitchers and catchers.

Hardin played at BIOLA University from 2001-05 under former McNeese head coach Mike Smith. She was also an assistant coach at Liberty University from 2005-07.

Smith left McNeese last week to take over the Ole Miss program.

While school officials have not confirmed Hardin's hiring, McNeese has set a news conference for 11 a.m. Thursday to introduce its new coach.
