MONROE, LA (KNOE/WAFB) -

A small plane has crashed at McDonald's on Desiard Street in Monroe, LA. The crash happened in the parking lot of the business.

KNOE TV reports that a v-tail single engine bonanza aircraft with one person on board crash landed into a parking lot at that location. The pilot (the lone occupant) was removed and airlifted for medical treatment. NTSB has been notified and will investigate the case of the crash.

The McDonald's restaurant is across the street from the Monroe Regional Airport.

The pilot of the plane is from Monroe.  He's a Monroe-based pilot who works for Brown's Feed and Chemical.  That company is based out of Carmi, Illinois. Carmi is a small town in White County, which is about 120 miles due east of St. Louis, Missouri.

Witnesses at the scene say the plane clipped trees before the crash.  The pilot was airlifted to LSU Shreveport to be treated for his injuries. There is no word on his condition.

The Ouachita Parish Fire Department and the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office is on the scene. The Monroe Police Department is helping with traffic in the area.

KNOE reports that there does not seem to be any fire hazard at this time.
