NEW IBERIA, LA (KPLC) -

A 63-year-old New Iberia man, a convicted sex offender, has been arrested on five counts oral sexual battery and six counts forcible rape.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said Sidney Istre was arrested Monday morning in Iberia Parish and transported to St. Mary.

"The detective determined that Istre had sexual contact with a 6-year-old male victim on multiple occasions between the years of 2001 and 2003," Hebert said Tuesday in a news release. "The detective also determined that one additional incident involving another male victim occurred in 2003. That victim was 12-years-old at the time."

The alleged incidents occurred during fishing trips Istre took the children on in the Franklin area, Hebert said.

Istre was convicted of indecent behavior with juveniles in 2005.
