MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - A Memphis mother who pulled her daughter from a burning home earlier this month is charged with abuse, neglect, aggravated assault, and violating bail conditions.

Jennifer Cotten was previously arrested for willful abuse neglect or exploitation of a vulnerable adult. She was ordered not to have contact with her daughter until Wednesday's date.

Cotten admitted she violated her bond conditions early to care for her 24-year-old daughter.

The mother and her daughter escaped a house fire on Jamerson Avenue in May. Police say the disabled daughter was alone before flames broke out.

Her daughter weighed only 40 pounds. A friend says the daughter uses a wheelchair.

Both Cotten and her daughter tested positive for meth.

Cotten said she did not know how her daughter was malnourished or tested positive for meth.

This is not time Cotten's been charged with neglecting her own daughter. She was charged with leaving the girl in a hot car with a soiled diaper last summer.
