SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

Multiple agencies are searching for a Calcasieu Correctional Center trusty who walked away from a work detail Friday afternoon.

Authorities said Scottie Carrier, 25, is a non-violent offender and not a danger to the public.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Carrier's last-known address was on Lewis Street in Sulphur. Carrier was working at Burton Coliseum when he left the property around 1:30 p.m., Myers said.

Carrier may be wearing a red shirt, khaki shorts, a hat and black boots.

Units from the Sheriff's Office K9, air and patrol were seen searching parts of north Sulphur and Westlake throughout the day. The search focused on a wooded area around Isabella Street in north Sulphur. Officers from the Sulphur Police Department assisted in the search.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso said anyone assisting Carrier would face criminal charges.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 337-491-3605.
