NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Police continue to search for a 12-year-old boy in connection with a May 22 shooting in Broadmoor.

Wardell Young faces attempted murder in the shooting of a 17-year-old male. The incident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of General Taylor Street.

According to witnesses, Young was involved in a verbal altercation with the victim when Young pulled out a weapon and began firing. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds to the body and was listed in stable condition.

One neighbor said the gunfire hit his daughter's car.

"Shot a hole in my daughter's windshield right here," said Randy Washington. "If she'd have been in it, it would've hit her. She called the police and they came back and did a report on it, because the bullet was in the backseat. And she had gotten home probably 20 minutes before that."

On May 6, Young's mother had reported him to police as being a runaway. Young is considered to be armed and dangerous.

"When they shoot a gun, it doesn't just go wherever they're aiming at, it goes all over the place," Washington said. "I mean, it's real bad. Many a nights you hear shots around here, and it shouldn't be like that."

Anyone with information on Wardell Young's whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
