LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The 39-year-old man recently convicted of raping a Lake Charles woman 20 years ago will be sentenced on Friday.

Johnathan Jacito Frank was found guilty of aggravated rape last week and was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday.

The defense requested a motion for a new trial on Thursday, but it was denied, and the sentencing was reset for Friday.

The 1994 incident took place at an apartment on Iris Street in Lake Charles, but after the initial complaint was filed, the case went cold.

Frank pleaded guilty in 2003 to attempted aggravated rape and aggravated battery for a separate incident in 1996. While in prison, officials used DNA evidence to link Frank to the 1994 rape.

Aggravated rape carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
