LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) -

Johnathan Frank, a 39-year-old man accused of raping a woman in Lake Charles in September 1994, was found guilty on Thursday.

Jury selection was held earlier this week in the 14th Judicial District Court, followed by opening statements. David Kimball served as prosecutor for the state in the case, and public defense attorney King Alexander represented Frank.

The 1994 incident took place at an apartment on Iris Street in Lake Charles, but after the initial complaint was filed, the case went cold.

In 2003, Frank pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated rape and aggravated battery for a separate incident in 1996. While he was in jail, officials used DNA evidence to link Frank to the Iris St. incident.

Frank's sentencing will be held May 22. He faces life in prison.
