BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU's 2014 graduating class is making history for not only being the largest class, but also the most diverse.

The university will be graduating more than 6300 graduates. Of those graduates, 570 are African American, 240 are Hispanics, and more than 3,400 are females.

"It's outstanding that 50 years after the defeat of segregation at LSU, we can announce the largest graduating class of African American students in our history," said LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander. "This year also saw our highest enrollment of African-American students ever. Additionally, in our most recent graduation rate report, LSU's African-American graduation rates reached the highest level in our history – 60 percent, nearly double the national average."

Graduation ceremonies will be held May 15 and May 16.
