TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler police responded to a shooting in Tyler on Wednesday afternoon.

At 3:49 p.m., a call came in about a disturbance on Trezevant Street in north Tyler. When police arrived, they found a female had been shot in the leg. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Tyler police say 22-year-old Terral Carter apparently pulled out a small handgun and began shooting rounds at the floor. One of the rounds ricocheted and struck the woman in the right knee.

A small child was in the room and was standing near where the bullets were hitting the floor, officers say. The child, thankfully, was not injured.

Carter was arrested and will be booked into Smith County  jail later Wednesday night after the investigation is complete.
