LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A visit to the Calcasieu Correctional Center has turned into a short stay for a Lake Charles woman.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Savannah S. Gardiner, 27, was arrested last week on an active warrant in connection with a 2012 incident.

Myers said Gardiner signed in to visit an inmate at the CCC on May 1. When Gardiner's name was run through the Sheriff's Office database, the warrant came up.

"In July 2012, deputies were dispatched to a local check cashing business," Myers said. "Deputies were advised that Gardiner attempted to cash a forged check worth $1,400."

Myers said Gardiner fled the scene before deputies arrived but she left her Louisiana identification card behind.

An arrest warrant on a charge of forgery was then issued for Gardiner but authorities were not able to locate her.

Myers said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.

Bond was set at $5,000.

In this week's edition of "Christian's Cajun Adventures," KPLC's Christian Piekos spent time on a commercial crabbing vessel. Christian was assisted by Roger Kelly, a veteran crabber.

Kelly, who also goes by the nickname "Snoopy," has been catching crab since a very young age. It seems like rudimentary work, but Kelly couldn't be happier with his job.
