LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Some Lake Charles city employees will be getting a pay raise. The Lake Charles City Council approved an ordinance Wednesday night amending the city's pay plan to raise the starting pay for temporary and part time employees from $7.75 per hour to $8.25.
This change does not apply to seasonal employees and does not include benefits.
"What this does is bring the salaries of temporary and part time employees to the current $8.25. So everyone will be at $8.25 per hour - both full time employees and our temporary or part time employees -- those less than 40 hours per week," explained John Cardone, Lake Charles City Administrator.
Cardone told the council in the upcoming budget year they plan to include salary surveys comparing Lake Charles employees to other municipal employees around the parish to show the pay scale and to possibly talk about giving pay raises.
