Lake Charles woman found guilty in child abuse case

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The trial of the Lake Charles woman accused of severely abusing her 2-year-old foster child in 2011 is over.

On Wednesday, Judge Ron Ware found Lan Le guilty of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

Le, 29, was arrested in September 2011 after the young boy was admitted to a local hospital with severe burns.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the child sustained second- and third-degree burns to his legs and had bruises on his ears, face and under one arm.

She pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and one count of cruelty to a juvenile in December 2011.

Le will be sentenced Sept. 10.
