LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Authorities are conducting what they have called the largest anti-drug operation in the history of Southwest Louisiana.

The 10-month investigation yielded 24 arrests, including the largest cocaine distributor and drug wholesaler in the Lake Area.

Over the past two weeks SWAT team members have done several raids to make the arrests. The most recent raid was held Sunday night through Monday morning.

"A lot of people say we are not winning the war in drugs," said Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso. "It's an ongoing thing, but last night we won."

"This was a team effort and would not have happened without everyone involved," said Col. Mike D. Edmondson with state police.

The operation, named Operation 27 by authorities, is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

 

The following is the list of subjects who have been arrested so far:

• Norvell K. Harris, 36, Iowa: 65 counts conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $12,550,000.

• Hayward Lecompte, 39, Lake Charles: 11 counts conspiracy to distribute CDS II, attempted possession of CDS II over 400 grams, attempted possession of CDS with intent to distribute over 400 grams. Bond: $4,300,000.

• Krisjuana Bellow, 22, Lake Charles: 16 counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Bond: $1,750,000.

• Jewery B. Webb, 46, Lake Charles: distribution of crack cocaine. Bond: $175,000.

• Gregory Eddie, 46, Lake Charles: 10 counts of conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $1,500,000.

• William Plaster, 33, Sulphur: conspiracy to possess cocaine. Bond: $1,500,000.

• Chad Gladney, 40, Lake Charles: four counts conspiracy to distribute CDS III, three counts possession of CDS I, two counts conspiracy to distribute CDS IV. Bond: $1,150,000.

• Jerry Vallier, 50, Lake Charles: seven counts conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $1,050,000.

• Jahmal Gray, 40, Lake Charles: six counts of conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $900,000.

• Jarvis Anderson, 38, Lake Charles: four counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, two counts of distribution of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Bond: $805,000.

• Eric D. Malbrough, 39, Lake Charles: three counts conspiracy to possess CDS II, three counts distribution of CDS II. Bond: $775,000.

• Jonathan Mayo, 28, Lake Charles: five counts conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $750,000.

• Jeremy Augustine, 28, Lake Charles: five counts conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $701,000.

• Nathaniel Rankins, 38, Lake Charles: five counts conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $700,000.

• Venancio Ortuno, 28, Houston, Texas: conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $500,000.

• Herbert Slydell, 45, Lake Charles: two counts of distribution of CDS II, two counts of conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $400,000.

• Leo Miller Sr., 28, Lake Charles: conspiracy to possess CDS II, possession to distribute CDS II crack cocaine. Bond: $150,000.

• Janette Ecter, 42, Lake Charles: conspiracy to possess CDS II. Bond: $150,000.

• Hollie E. Harris, 34, Iowa: nine conspiracy to distribute CDS II. Bond: $40,000.

• Shanna Franklin, 35, Lake Charles: distribution of CDS III, possession of CDS I. Bond: $30,000.

• Jerrel L. Webb, 35, Lake Charles: distribution of crack cocaine. Bond: $20,000.

• Spencer Vito, 41, Lake Charles: two counts of distribution of CDS II.

• Omar Sanchez Arturo, 21, Houston, Texas: conspiracy to distribute CDS II.

• David Moss Jr., 24, Lake Charles: conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

If convicted, each individual faces the possibility of 5 to 30 years in prison.
