LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

KPLC has confirmed that the Piccadilly Cafeteria at the Prien Lake Mall is closing its doors.

Though it make take a little while, Southwest Louisiana residents will still be able to get their carrot souffles and dilly plates.

A Piccadilly spokesman did not give a timetable for when the restaurant will close, but he said the company hopes to reopen at a new location in Lake Charles within six months.

"We are currently open and operating in Lake Charles; however, the landlord did not renew our lease," said Jay Chauvin, Regional Manager for Piccadilly Restaurants, LLC.

"We are transitioning to a new building with a kitchen, so that we can continue to operate our Piccadilly Food Service accounts. It is our full intention to reopen a Piccadilly Restaurant at a new location within six months to continue to serve the Lake Charles community, a community that has been a loyal supporter of Piccadilly for many years," Chauvin said.

An official with Simon Malls, which operates the Prien Lake Mall, said Piccadilly's lease expires June 1.

"Piccadilly has operated within Prien Lake Mall since the shopping center opened its doors in 1972, and we are sorry to see them go," Simon said in a news release. "However, we are looking forward to the future, and are excited about what's next for the space."
