A 21-year-old man died when storms moved through the Tuscaloosa area on Monday night.

Authorities were called to a home in the 1400 block of 22nd Avenue after a report of a person trapped just after 10 p.m.

City officials say a retention wall in the basement gave way. We're told the victim and a friend sought shelter in the basement as the storm passed through the area.

He was taken to DCH in Tuscaloosa where he was pronounced dead.

Officials aren't releasing his identity until family has been notified.
