Many damage reports are coming into the newsroom. Here's what we know so far:

A large tornado touched down near UAB Medical West in Bessemer. The storm was caught on camera as it touched down just before 11:30 p.m. Monday and continued to track south of the city of Birmingham before it weakened, causing the tornado warning in Jefferson County to be cancelled.

Damage reports in Bessemer come from the Timberline Apartments off of Highway 11 near UAB Medical West. There was roof damage to those apartment and trees were down in the area. More than 100 people were evacuated from those apartments and taken to the Bessemer Civic Center. There is no word on the conditions of the folks brought out of the apartments, but all of the residents were evacuated and are reportedly safe.

In Kimberly, officials confirm there were no major injuries or fatalities. Many homes in the area were damaged and some folks were displaced from their homes. The fire station and the Kimberly Church of God were destroyed. Some people were reportedly trapped there, but no one there was injured. There were also some reports of trees down on Kelly Drive.

In Morris, there was damage reported at North Jefferson Middle School. The extent of that damage hasn't been confirmed, but there was some roof damage and there may be some water damage in the gym. There was a lot of debris and there were downed trees and power lines in the area around the school.

In Graysville, there were trees down throughout the area, many across Highway 78 and main street. There were trees on some homes and officials are responding to the area to assess the situation. There was also confirmed damage at a Kangaroo gas station off of Highway 78. Cherry Avenue was also blocked by downed power lines. There was also a report of a home destroyed and a few people injured on Cruise Drive.

In Tuscaloosa, a tornado was confirmed near Bear Creek Road and some damage was also reported in that area. A tree reportedly fell on a home in the Woodland Forest subdivision. Numerous trees were reported down in the neighborhood and many power lines were reported down.

In Cottondale, there was a report that there was some damage to a Ruby Tuesday.

In Blount County, near Oneonta on Harmony Lane off of Highway 27, two people were reportedly trapped under the rubble of a home. There are also reports of downed trees along Highway 231 in Blount County.

The Gadsden Etowah EMA says the Smith's Institute community suffered widespread damage. Fortunately, they have not found any injuries as nearly everyone took shelter at a nearby church. There are damaged mobile homes in the area. Altoona also suffered a large amount of damage.

Lt. Sean Edwards with Birmingham PD says the 4300 block of Overton Road has a tree across the road and cars cannot pass.

As of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Alabama reports 63,500 customers without power. They say crews have restored 44,000 so far.

Our crews are out in the field working to get pictures and information about the damage from these storms. As we get those details confirmed, we'll continue updating this story.

And one important note - officials from all of these areas ask that you please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. It could hamper response efforts, so it's best to just stay at home.
