Mississippi man charged with third-offense DWI

A 45-year-old Mississippi man has been arrested on a charge of third-offense DWI, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Kevin Dwane Delaughter, of Natchez, was stopped for a traffic violation late Friday night near the intersection of Broussard Road and Patton Street in Sulphur.

"When the deputy approached the truck and spoke with Delaughter, he detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and he appeared very unsteady on his feet," Myers said Monday in a news release. "Delaughter advised the deputy that he had been drinking prior to driving."

Myers said Delaughter was convicted of second-offense DWI in Calcasieu Parish in 2011.

Bond was set at $8,500.
