Thirteen area teams still alive in softball playoffs

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) -

Thirteen teams from the Lake Area are still alive in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's softball playoffs, including two three-time defending champions.

Starks and Singer were scheduled to play regional-round matchups on Thursday.

Hackberry, the three-time Class C champ, won Wednesday night to advance to the Fast Pitch 56 tournament.

Sulphur, three-time champion Sam Houston, St. Louis, Iota, DeQuincy, Rosepine, Merryville, Grand Lake, Fairview and Pitkin are set to play their regional-round games this weekend.

The quarterfinal, semifinal and championship games will be played May 2-3 at the Fast Pitch 56 Tournament at Frasch Park in Sulphur. The complete pairings can been seen HERE or by going to http://bit.ly/1tfpcB2.
