    Several witnesses told us they heard what they thought were gunshots just before 9 o'clock. Shortly after, several Super 8 Hotel guests were told to evacuate. At least one person was taken away by ambulance, according to witnesses. There is no word on their injuries. More >>

LEESVILLE, LA (KPLC) -

This year's Mayfest will be held May 2 from 5-10:30 p.m. and May 3 from 9 a.m.-10:30 p.m. at the courthouse lawn in downtown Leesville.

Admission to the event is free, and activities will include the following:

the 30th Annual Armadillo Stampede 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. on May 3 at the Oak Pointe Wellness Center, 

the Leesville Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at 7 a.m. on May 4, 

the Chalk-a-Block featuring sidewalk chalk art, 

an art exhibit by Derek Gollaher at the Joseph Sisters Gallery throughout Mayfest,

and a group exhibit featuring gallery artists at Gallery One Elleven on May 3-4.

Other activities will include static weapon displays by Fort Polk, classic vehicle displays, art demonstrations, live music, arts and food vendors. 

Performers at the festival will include Amy Nicole & Zydeco Soul, Frank Foster, Mia Borders, the Old Man Band, Spiritual Airs and Power and Light Company. The lineup of main stage musicians can be found HERE. The lineup of gospel stage musicians can be found HERE.
