SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

Former LSU and Sulphur linebacker Tahj Jones has been released from the hospital, less than two weeks after he was shot.

An official from Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexander confirmed that Jones, 24, is no longer at the hospital.

Former LSU and NFL player Brandon Winey, 36, allegedly shot Jones on April 10 at an apartment complex in Sulphur.

Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats said Jones went to the complex to visit a woman and that Winey arrived later to visit the same woman.

Authorities said an argument between the men lead to a fight and Winey shot Jones in the abdomen.

Jones was taken the West Cal-Cam Hospital and then transferred to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria for surgery.

Winey has been charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Tonging is way to fish for oysters using two large sticks.  fishermen say it's much harder than dredging, which they do now, and much less efficient. "It's like using a post hole digger, where you've actually got to dig the oysters up by hand and pick them up and put them on your boat by hand," said Leo Dyson of Cameron.
