SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

A Crime Stoppers tip has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old Sulphur on theft charges, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Tony W. Gregg was arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of four televisions from the Sam's Club in Lake Charles.

"His arrest was due to a tip called into Crime Stoppers from someone who recognized Gregg from pictures," Myers said. "The pictures were featured in the local media and on social media sites requesting assistance in identifying the man in the pictures."

Myers said Gregg confirmed he stole the televisions when questioned by detectives. Gregg also advised detectives he was in possession of synthetic marijuana.

Bond was pending for Gregg, who was also charged with marijuana possession.
