Potential robber dies after getting stuck in oven vent

MARRERO, LA (WVUE) - A man who may have been attempting to rob a store in Marrero died after getting stuck in the vents.

Jefferson Parish Police responded to a 911 call at Greg's Food Mart on Westwood Drive after the owner came to work to find a man's legs dangling from an oven vent in the kitchen.

According to Sheriff Newell Norman, investigators determined the man appeared to be breaking in to the building through the vents after seeing the rest of his body stuck in an entry point on the roof.

The suspect's body was removed from the vents by the Marrero Ragusa Volunteer Fire Company and he was pronounced dead on the scene. No cause of death has been determined yet.

The man was later identified as Ken Singleton of Marrero.

Anyone with information in this matter is asked to call the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Burglary Division at 364-5300.
