APD: Teen stabs grandmother, goes to school covered in blood

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Atlanta Police Department detectives are investigating the murder of an elderly woman.

According to investigators, Mary Price, 76, was killed by her 14-year-old grandson.

Capt. Paul Guerrucci, the commander of APD's Homicide Unit, was tight-lipped about many of the details surrounding Price's murder, explaining there is still a lot of work in front of investigators.

"We are talking to several people to determine their involvement," said Guerrucci.

Neighbors in the area, like Earl Juhan, were shocked to hear Price had been killed. Juhan has lived next to Price for nearly 40 years.

"Her kids and my kids went to school together," said Juhan.

He also said he has not seen or heard anything unusual recently, but has noticed Price's grandchildren have been visiting. Police said the suspect lived at the home along with several other people.

According to police, the 14-year-old showed up at his school, Therrell High School, covered in blood and had several conversations with people which led police back to the elderly woman's home where they discovered her body. Investigators believe the teen acted alone.

Price suffered multiple stab wounds.

Price is the mother of an Atlanta police officer. However, the teen is not the child of the officer.

Police said they have not determined whether the teen will be charged as an adult.

Section 8 applicants will still face difficulties finding low rent housing

    Monday, July 24 2017 8:16 PM EDT2017-07-25 00:16:54 GMT

Part of the reason the waiting list takes for Section 8 Housing takes so long to pare down is because there's a shortage of Section 8 housing, at least in the Lake Charles area. It's because of the economy...and high rents.  Local officials are working to increase the dollars available, but it's still hard for residents to find the housing. "It's harder than Houston and Houston is bigger," said Kristina Broussard,  who lives in public hou...
