Another arrest made in DeQuincy shooting

DEQUINCY, LA (KPLC) -

Authorities have made a third arrest in connection with a weekend shooting in DeQuincy that sent one man to the hospital.

According to records from the Calcasieu Correctional Center, Ashten Lemalle Spikes was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his home in DeQuincy.

The 19-year-old Spikes has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated burglary, two counts of theft over $500 and two counts of criminal conspiracy.

Spikes' bond was set at $690,000.

On Sunday, a 15-year-old juvenile and 17-year-old Damonte Davon Gillespie were arrested in connection with the shooting.

DeQuincy Police Detective Tom Threet said the victim was shot early Sunday morning and was treated and released from a local hospital.

The juvenile is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, burglary, possession of a firearm in a gun-free zone, drug possession, criminal conspiracy and introducing contraband into a penal institution. No bond was set.

Gillespie is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, theft over $500 and criminal conspiracy. His bond was set at $305,000.

On Friday, an official with the DeQuincy Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
