WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) -

A 28-year-old Westlake woman has been arrested after biting a young family member on the cheek, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Geneva Monica Young was arrested Monday on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile.

"During the investigation, detectives discovered Young bit the victim to discipline him and instructed him, if asked, to say his dog bit him," Myers said Wednesday in a news release. "When questioned by detectives, Young confirmed the allegations."

Young was released Tuesday after posting the $5,000 bond set by Judge Clayton Davis.

Myers said the Department of Child and Family Services is also investigating the incident.
